I have a BA in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, an MA in Linguistics, and I'm currently pursuing a PhD in Second Language Acquisition. Since 2015, I've been teaching Chinese as both a private tutor and a university teaching assistant.
I genuinely love teaching languages to speakers from diverse backgrounds. Their unique learning journeys and perspectives often inspire my own research, and I find it deeply rewarding when my theoretical insights translate into practical teaching strategies that help students overcome their language-learning challenges.
With my strong foundation in linguistics and speech science, I pride myself on being a clear and effective explainer. I strive to make complex language phenomena accessible by breaking them down logically, enabling my students to learn and understand more effectively.
Pronunciation is a particular specialty of mine, not only because my research delves into the causes of mispronunciations and effective training methods, but also because I'm a native speaker of standard Mandarin, having grown up in Beijing.
I completed my MA with distinction in London, UK, and have achieved a 7.5 overall score on the IELTS exam, with standout scores in listening (8.5) and reading (9). If you’re preparing for international English tests or planning to study abroad, I’d be happy to support you on that journey.

I believe that learning a language goes far beyond simple memorization. There are reasons and patterns behind language phenomena, and understanding these is key. Rather than just repeating textbook content, it's far more valuable for learners to grasp the underlying logic and identify patterns. This not only makes learning easier but also lays a strong foundation for self-study if they choose to continue independently.
I also think that language learning should be enjoyable. It shouldn’t just come from textbooks; it’s real-life communication that truly brings a language to life. That’s why, instead of a traditional classroom approach, I like to incorporate stories, movie clips, and other engaging materials to help learners understand and use the language in a natural way.
That said, I recognize that everyone learns for different reasons—whether it’s to improve communication skills, read and write, perfect pronunciation, learn topic-specific vocabulary, pass exams, or simply for fun. Individual language proficiency and personal learning habits also make a big difference. That’s why I take the time to get to know my students first. Together, we can design a teaching plan and method that works best for you.
