Hello! I am Jenna, a designer and native Finnish speaker from Northern Finland who has lived in California for nearly three years. I am passionate about languages, love tutoring, and would be happy to support you in your Finnish language journey! I've been described as a positive and patient tutor who helps students feel more confident in using Finnish in their lives.
I've been tutoring for a couple of years now and it has been such a rewarding experience getting to know students with differing levels of Finnish skill and seeing them develop considerably with my assistance. My social circle is very diverse, so I've had the chance to help several of my friends with their Finnish in the past as well. My teaching style is conversational and interactive and focused mainly on using the language as much as possible in the classroom.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exploring nature and new landscapes as well as training Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I hope to see you soon!

I believe in interactive teaching where students are active participants in the learning process. It is crucial that students feel encouraged and motivated to learn, and I contribute to this by being open and positive as well as giving constructive feedback constantly. During the lessons, my emphasis is not so much on grammar rules but to encourage the student to use the language as much as possible in various contexts.
I customize lessons based on your experience, level and goals for your learning process. It is essential for me that you as a student feel heard and supported in class and that your needs are being met with my tutoring service. I welcome you to bravely suggest themes during the lessons but I will also offer ideas related to commonly liked and useful topics. I will help you to extend your vocabulary, find the most fluent ways of expressing things, introduce you to the differences of formal and casual language, and also the most commonly challenging grammar issues. "Happy student makes a happy teacher" - is my motto.
